Roy Field

 

Roy Field, B.S.C., in charge of special photographic effects, won an Academy Award for his work on Superman and in 1978 was given a British Academy Award for Outstanding Contribution to the British Cinema.

Field's career began forty-four years ago at Bray studio, where he was a clapper-loader. He worked with special-effects pioneers Les Bowie and Vic Margutti before spending seventeen years at Pinewood Studios, where he was closely associated with the development and refinement of special-effects techniques. Field worked on the early James Bond films You Only Live Twice, Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Diamonds Are Forever. His other credits include The Bluebird, Saturn Three, Superman and Superman II, Clash of the Titans, and Outland.
