Garthim
Clawed warriors of amazing strength and savagery, the Garthim unthinkingly carried out the commands of skekUng the Garthim-Master. Created by skekTek the Scientist they lived in caverns beneath the castle and left their nether world only to plunder the surrounding countryside, from which they returned with slaves for the Skeksis' household.
Armored warriors of destruction with unbounded strength and stupidity, they serve the forces of evil. Lacking hearts, or other internal organs, they require neither food nor drink. Their only nourishment is the pleasure they derive from destruction.
They have served the forces of evil since the Skeksis separated from the urRu.
They are the strike force of the Skeksis, huge and black-carapaced, mighty-clawed, like giant fleas with their dangling tentacles. Always some are standing like sentries along the corridors of the castle, lifeless until activated by a command. Others are held in reserve in a pit beneath the castle floors. The Garthim are cruel brain made over into crustacean objects, mightmare crabs, swift monsters designed for one purpose only: destruction. For any one of them there is no singular noun. They are the plural extensions of one will of evil.
When summoned they come suddenly to life with a loud ticking sound.
Even flames do not harm the Garthim.
The Garthim are terrible but ignorant tools of the Garthim-Master. They do what they are told to do. They act without question. They make no excuses.
The Garthim pick up Pod People by their heads or arms or feet and stuff them into round wicker cages that they carry on their backs.
They have great serrated claws and massive, plated feet.
Garthim energy comes from the Crystal.
The tentacles on the Garthim, and their legs, end in plated, round feet.
Garthim do what the Skeksis order them to do and nothing more. Until the Garthim-Master or another Skeksis command them into action, they are lifeless.
The Garthim are essentially a thought projectile.
