Harry Lange

Harry Lange (Production Designer) was born in Germany and studied art in Munich. In 1951 he moved to New York, working in advertising before joining NASA as an illustrator. A meeting with Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick brought Lange to London to work on Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, for which he won British and American Academy Award nominations. Based in Great Britain ever since, Lange has worked as art director on Moonraker, Kelly's Heroes, Population Growth Zero, Superman, and Superman II. He was technicla adviser for Star Wars and again (with the film's senior art directors) was nominated for an Academy Award for The Empire Strikes Back.
