skekUng
the Garthim-Master
"Strongest of all for brute force, after the Emperor, was skekUng the Garthim-Master. Torment was his pleasure, though his urSkek original had been a healer and continued so in his urRu form. Hidden in that tall, shining urSkek was one who, ages later, could find pleasure in tearing apart the gentle Gelfling. The urSkeks knew this evil was in them and tried hard to burn it out. The soul driven by strong forces is weak, and the soul without strength is helpless. Wisdom and compassion have their roots in the same soil as violence and hate; the strong being allows them to fight within him, to recognize that his strength of will must control the evil he could do. That the urSkeks did not understand this and violated their nature was the ruin of our World. They looked and spoke like superior beings, but they too were capable of error."

He is the most massive and brutal of the Skeksis. Decked in a robe of armor pieces that glitter and rattle as he marches. His spurs strike sparks from the stone floor of the castle. The mad, cold eyes and yellow fangs, revealed in a characteristic sneer, arouse a prehistoric fear in all who see him, even in the other Skeksis. He is unusual among them in having held his position ever since their reign had begun. He was always and ever the Garthim-Master, from the first the strongest and most violent of them. The Garthim, he maintains, are his creation. He takes fierce pride in them.
He has the chief-executive responsiblility for maintaining order and security.
He commands the powerful support of skekTek and skekNa.
The Garthim-Master lacks confidence in his will to win the next duel for the throne, possibly against the Ritual-Master.

Much of skekUng's power must have come from his ability to assume positions of geometric harmony, unusual for a Skeksis.
This is his urRu counterpart:
Combined they form the urSkek, UngIm.
